A Congolese patient passed away in Quetta recently, demonstrating the ongoing mortality toll caused by the Congo virus in Pakistan.
The forty-year-old Musa Khel native was taken in serious condition to the Fatima Jinnah Institute of Chest Diseases. She died before the viral test results were sent to her.
In a further instance, tests revealed that Abdul Khaliq, a 23-year-old from Kuchlak who had been admitted to the same facility, had the Congo virus. His health is being watched carefully.
The Epidemiological Department reports that as of 2024, there have been 30 instances of the Congo virus in Quetta, with seven deaths reported.
