ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, Omar Ayub Khan, the opposition leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the National Assembly, criticized Defense Minister Khawaja Asif for using “personal remarks” and using derogatory language when talking about his grandpa, the former military dictator and president Ayub Khan.

Speaking to the Lower House, Ayub declared that Asif’s remarks were unsuitable. Let’s be clear about the facts because Ayub Khan is a historical figure. The (first) martial law was imposed by Iskander Mirza, he said.

On Monday, Omar denounced the purported interference in the 2024 general elections and proposed that individuals who broke Article 6 of the Constitution be tried for treason.

After then, the minister of defense publicly abused Omar in front of the Lower House.

According to the minister of defense, “former dictator Khan” should be held first in terms of accountability. He declared that the former ruler’s remains ought to be dug up and hanged in compliance with Article 6.

“Whoever abrogates or subverts or suspends or holds in abeyance, or attempts or conspires to abrogate or subvert or suspend or hold in abeyance the Constitution by use of force or show force or by any other unconstitutional means, shall be guilty of high treason,” reads Article 6 of the constitution.
