The Met Office has forecasted that scattered heavy rains is expected to affect several regions of Sindh including Karachi from tomorrow (Wednesday), following the news that the severe heat claimed at least eight lives in Karachi the day before.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasted a dust-thunderstorm or rain with sporadic heavy downpours in different regions of Sindh province between June 26 and July 1.
Mithi, Umarkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, TandoAllahyar, Badin, Thatta, Karachi, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Shaheed Banazirabad, Nausheroferoze, Khairpur, Dadu, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, and Larkana are expected to see rain with sporadic breaks.
In addition to Sindh, rain is predicted for other regions of the nation starting tomorrow due to low air pressure in Gujarat, India’s southernmost state, and the arrival of monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal in the country’s east on June 26.
The PMD prediction is released as the city has been experiencing extremely high temperatures recently, with yesterday (Monday) recording a “feels like” temperature of 51°C. The mercury has reached as high as 42°C.
In addition, rain is predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and other cities between June 27 and July 1.
In the meantime, rain is predicted for Bahawalpur, Multan, Khanewal, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan between June 26 and June 30.
