The 32-year-old scored in the Reds’ convincing 3-0 victory against Manchester United on Sunday. His contract at Anfield is scheduled to expire in the summer.
After the game, Salah stated he had approached it as if it were his final game at Old Trafford.
He said to Sports, “I was thinking as I was getting to the game that this might be the last time.”
“Since no one in the club had discussed contracts with me yet, I decided to play my final season and make my decision at the end of the season.
I believe I am free to play football; we’ll see what occurs the following season.
Manager Arne Slot responded to a question regarding Salah’s remarks by saying, “There are a lot of ‘if’s.” He is currently one of ours, and I am pretty glad about that because he performed incredibly well.
“I don’t talk about contracts from players but I can talk for hours about how Mo played today.”
Salah allegedly signed a new three-year contract in July 2022, making him the best paid player in the club’s history at about £350,000 per week.
Last September, Liverpool turned down a £150 million bid for Salah from Al-Ittihad.
