A fresh direction for fabrics and fashion in Munich
Munich Fabric Start is set to return from January 27 to 29, bringing designers, buyers, and product managers together at the MOC Munich. Around 1,000 Spring Summer 2027 fabric and trim collections from global suppliers will be on display, offering a broad look at where fashion materials are heading next.
‘Pleasure’ theme puts emotion back into materials
The guiding theme for this edition is Pleasure, which places feeling, attitude, and sensual appeal at the heart of fabric development. Organisers say the focus moves fashion away from strict practicality and toward emotion, self expression, and cultural meaning. Colours, textures, and surfaces are meant to inspire confidence and joy, rather than restraint.
According to the organisers, Spring Summer 2027 marks a clear shift. After years of muted design, brands are embracing optimism, individuality, and creative freedom. This change reflects wider fatigue with uncertainty and overly predictable design driven by algorithms.
A structured fair with a new mindset
Managing Director Florian Klinder explained that while efficiency still shapes the market, Munich Fabric Start wants to lead with inspiration. The fair positions itself as a focused business platform and a place where textile expertise and new ideas meet. The goal is simple: confidence instead of caution, and optimism instead of hesitation.
All fashion segments under one roof
The event once again brings together its key formats: Bluezone, Keyhouse, and The Source. These areas cover premium fabrics and trims, international denim know how, and future focused innovation across the full textile value chain. Sustainability, global collaboration, and responsible sourcing remain central to the fair’s identity.
All eight exhibition areas will be housed in one location at the MOC. Bluezone and Keyhouse, including the Sustainable Innovations area, will sit in Hall 2 near Fabrics and Additionals. Design Studios take a more central spot in Hall 4, while the Resource sourcing area will be placed next to The Source in Hall 1.
Denim trends blend into wider fashion stories
Denim trends from Bluezone will appear directly inside the main trend worlds in the MOC foyer. This setup reflects how denim and classic fashion categories increasingly overlap within modern collections.
Strong exhibitor lineup and expert talks
Exhibitors include Albini Group, Calik, Lanificio di Tollegno, Manteco, Pontetorto, Riopele, Thermore, and Troficolor Denim Makers, among others. Alongside the exhibition, visitors can attend talks, panels, and trend sessions featuring Peclers Paris, David Shah, O M Collective, Olivia Does Design, and Monsieur T. Sustainable Innovations curator Simon Angel will also host sessions on future ready material solutions.
