PESHAWAR: Nepotism and familial ties appear to dominate the 15-member Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) cabinet, which was “finalised” by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in conjunction with the province’s Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
The 15-member cabinet, which was sworn in by KP Governor Haji Ghulam Ali on Wednesday, includes some relatives of the PTI’s central leadership.
Among those who earned a place in the province’s principal executive body are party Secretary General Omar Ayub’s cousin, Arshad Ayub Khan, and Aqib Ullah Khan, the younger brother of senior party leader Asad Qaiser.
Faisal Tarakai, the brother of key provincial lawmaker Shahram Khan Tarakai, and former federal minister Noorul Haq Qadri’s nephew Adnan Qadri have both been appointed to Gandapur’s government.
Meanwhile, Khalid Latif, the brother of renowned party leader Sher Afzal Marwat, has been appointed special advisor to the chief minister.
Other cabinet members are Shakeel Ahmad, Fazal Hakim Khan, Muhammad Sajjad, Meena Khan, Fazal Shakoor, Nazir Ahmad Abbasi, Pakhtoon Yar Khan, Aftab Alam Khan Afridi, Khaleeq Ur Rehman, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, and Muhammad Zahir Shah.
