Americans have even greater faith in nurses than in doctors.
According to Gallup’s 2023 Honesty and Ethics poll, American adults’ degree of trust in 23 prominent professions was used to rank them.
According to a Gallup press release, 78% of Americans who participated said that they uphold “very high” or “high” standards for honesty and integrity, making nurses the most trusted profession.
A NEW REPORT REVEALS THAT MANY NURSES ARE “UNENGAGED” AT WORK, AND LESS THAN HALF ARE “FULLY ENGAGED” AT WORK.
For the 22nd year in a row, nurses have been named the most trustworthy profession.
Despite a 7 percentage point decline since 2019, nurses’ overall trust rating is still higher than dentists’ (59%). and physicians (56% trust rating).
Chiropractors (33%) and psychiatrists (36%) were ranked lower in the health care trust rankings than pharmacists (55%).
Higher levels of trust were indicated by college graduates for the majority of professions.
Dentists (70% among college graduates and 53% for those who did not graduate), psychiatrists (47% versus 31%), pharmacists (64% versus 50%), and medical doctors (64% versus 52%) were the professions in the health care sector with the largest differences.
According to the press release, Gallup has been conducting this survey since 1976, with yearly updates beginning in 1990.
Between December 1 and December 20, 2023, researchers interviewed over 800 American adults for our most recent rating.
