At the Gaddafi Stadium on Monday, Pakistan secured a consolation victory in the third ODI of the three-match series, led by a game-winning spell from Nashra Sandhu and a batting masterclass from Sidra Amin.
Pakistan easily crossed the finish line in 31 overs with 114 balls remaining and four wickets lost while chasing a modest 116-run mark.
Muneeba Ali helped with the chase with 76-ball 44, while Sidra, who had recorded successive hundreds in the previous two games, nailed an undefeated 50.
In order to give Pakistan a strong lead early in the chase, the two batters also established a 65-run partnership for the second wicket.
Nadine de Klerk and Nonkululeko Mlaba both took two wickets for South Africa.
