With the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) facing legal and political difficulties as well as “internal turmoil,” senior leader and former minister for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Shaukat Yousafzai, has refuted rumors that the once-dominant party was “disturbed” by the detention of its founder, Imran Khan.
Yousafzai stated, “There is no substance in rumours suggesting that the PTI was disturbed due to Imran Khan’s incarceration […] the PTI’s vote bank isn’t going anywhere,” on Thursday during an appearance on Geo News’ “Geo Pakistan” show.
The PTI leader’s comments coincide with a highly visible power struggle within the party that Khan created, concerning everything from the incapacity of the party leadership to organize a public gathering to corruption and poor leadership in KP under Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
