His passing was reported by ELO pioneer Jeff Lynne, who honored a “surprising performer”.
Lynne composed on news: “It is with extraordinary bitterness that I share the fresh insight about the death of my long-lasting colleague and dear companion Richard Tandy.
“He was a wonderful performer and companion and I’ll esteem the lifetime of recollections we had together.
“Sending all my adoration to Sheila and the Tandy family.”
Tandy assisted shape the English stone with banding, most popular for hits, for example, Mr Blue Sky and Last Train To London.
The Birmingham-conceived artist joined ELO after the arrival of the band’s most memorable collection in 1972 and at first played bass however turned into the keyboardist after Roy Wood left.
