Robert Downey Jr. revealed his future plans while celebrating his Oscar victory.
The 58-year-old recently spoke with People magazine and teased fans with his impending miniseries, stating, “I have a couple other tricks up my sleeve.”
For those unaware, Downey will next appear in The Sympathizer, a comedy-drama series starring Hoa Xuande, Sanda Oh, Scott Ly, and others.
Adapted on Viet Thanh Nguyen’s novel, the series delves into elements of dark comedy, spy thriller, and historical drama. The seven-episode miniseries will follow a spy embedded in the South Vietnamese army who flees to the United States to seek asylum and report back to the Vietnamese army.
Downey, who recently modified his look for Oppenheimer, which resulted in his historic Oscar win, stated that he underwent a more severe metamorphosis for The Sympathizer, in which he plays four supporting characters.
“It wasn’t particularly subtle, it wasn’t meant to be, but I’m already proud of what I’ve seen,” he said.
Speaking with the site, his wife and producing partner, Susan Downey, stated that they had more ambitions to reach, saying, “We’re just getting started.”.
