The comedian and actor has refuted claims that he was the victim of emotional abuse, rape, and violence between 2006 and 2013.

The Times, Sunday Times, and Channel 4 Dispatches all published stories about the claims as part of their investigations.

In a video interview, Brand stated that being accused of “what I consider to be the most appalling crimes” was “very, very painful”.

The Metropolitan Police have questioned him over nine suspected offenses. The Met stated a month ago that it was still conducting inquiries.

Tucker Carlson, a former Fox News personality, spoke with Brand on YouTube and inquired about the significance of the accusations.

The activist and comedian stated to him: “I’m aware that I put myself in an extremely vulnerable position by being very, very promiscuous, [but] that is not the type of conduct I endorse, and it’s certainly not how I would live now.”

“Of course, I deny any allegations of the kind that have been advanced – and what I have seen is the significance of family and the importance of beliefs that are transcendent of this.”

“My son was undergoing heart surgery while this [the accusations being made] was happening,” he continued. “My son was born with a heart condition.”

“He was 12 weeks old and I suppose what that did, Tucker, is it revealed that what we were experiencing was a public concoction.”

He went on to say that he was raising up his son since the response to the documentary had helped him realize what’s “important in life.”

Although Brand has discussed the accusations previously, this is the first time he has been asked to speak in public.

Brand presented radio and television shows for broadcasters like the BBC, MTV, Channel 4, and Radio X in addition to starring in movies like Arthur, Get Him To The Greek, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

The 48-year-old said that he was “fostered and adored and celebrated, and lived the kind of lifestyle that was kind of common for people in that arena, for single people… certainly with an appetite for a promiscuous lifestyle” while he was a “denizen” of the entertainment industry.

He went on to say: “When I was part of it, I found it empty and unfulfilling.”

In addition, Brand was accused of acting in a domineering, abusive, and predatory manner—all of which he disputes.

Both Channel 4 and the BBC are looking into his time spent working for them internally.
