KARACHI: According to News, Karachi Commissioner Muhammad Saleem Rajput has put a two-month ban on kite flying in an effort to prevent fatal accidents involving loose kite strings and to protect the public.

In a statement, the commissioner stated that “from March 30 to May 29, the production, sale, and operation of kites have been prohibited throughout the city under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).”

According to him, this choice was taken in reaction to the usage of dangerous metal lines during kite flying, which seriously jeopardized public safety.

According to the commissioner, kite flying mishaps have resulted in the injuries of eight persons thus far. Authorities have implemented the prohibition due to a number of recent occurrences involving injuries caused by metal strings flying with kites.

The commissioner stated, “Kite-flying can prove to be extremely dangerous for citizens, and this step has been taken to safeguard the valuable lives of citizens.”

Sources claim that the local government is hoping that by outlawing kite flying, it will lessen the number of occurrences involving kite flying and protect the citizens of the city.

On March 27, a young man from Karachi was admitted to the hospital after suffering a serious injury from a loose kite string in the Azizabad neighborhood. The 20-year-old, identified as Awais, was riding a motorcycle near Azizabad when he got tangled in a kite string, according to a police statement.

Similarly, a young child who was harmed by a loose kite string and fell victim to the killing string was sent to the hospital right away.
