Multiple reports state that Brian Callahan will take over as head coach of the Tennessee Titans.
Mike Vrabel will be replaced by Callahan, the former offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals, according to an NFL Network report on Monday. The Titans reportedly conducted Callahan’s second interview earlier in the day, and they weren’t going to let him leave without accepting the offer.
The 39-year-old is Bill Callahan’s son, the former head coach of the Raiders. He began his career in the NFL in 2010 when he joined the Denver Broncos as a coaching assistant. After rising through the ranks, he was hired in 2013 as the offensive assistant for the Broncos and left after the 2015 campaign.
Callahan was employed by the Detroit Lions to coach the team’s quarterbacks in 2016 and 2017. In 2018, he took a job as the quarterbacks coach for the Las Vegas Raiders. With Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Joe Mixon on the offensive line, he led the Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance after being hired as their offensive coordinator in 2019.

Callahan now seems certain to take over as the Titans’ next head coach in an attempt to turn the franchise around.
Tennessee had not returned to the Super Bowl since Jeff Fisher’s team won it in 1999. Since the end of the Fisher era, the Titans have had four coaches. Fifth is Callahan.
In 2023, Tennessee ranked 28th in yards gained and 27th in points scored. With a record of 6-11, the Titans concluded their second consecutive season below.500.
