Some baby names may even be in danger of going extinct; not all baby names are increasing in popularity.

The experts on baby names at BabyCenter, with its main office in San Francisco, California, have been monitoring names that are becoming less and less common among newlyweds.

The team assembled a list of more than 40 names that might not be as well-known in 2024 as they were in previous years based on their research.

The most fashionable baby names for 2023 have been revealed, with Liam taking the top spot for the first time in years.

BabyCenter’s Rebekah Wahlberg, a specialist in baby name trends, categorized the names and arranged some of the most important information.

names ending in “Aden”
According to Wahlberg’s research, “there was a surge in boys’ names that ended with the sound ‘aden’ as the trend gained popularity in the early 2000s.”

Many of these boys’ names have lost favor and have dropped from the top of the list of the most popular baby names as of 2024.
Jaiden dropped even lower, dropping 151 spots, according to Wahlberg.

For instance, the name Raiden dropped 147 spots from its initial ranking in 2022 and the name Aidan fell 93 spots from 2022 to 2023.

Last names that evolved into first names
The prevalence of this once-common practice among newlyweds has decreased.

“Among boys and girls, common last names that became popular as first names have been declining in popularity,” Wahlberg stated.

REPORT: ‘AT RISK’ OF BECOMING ‘EXTINCT’ IN 2023 FOR THESE BABY NAMES

Mckenzie, Oakley, Reagan, and Sawyer are a few of these once-popular names that are no longer in vogue for girls.

According to the group, Mckenzie is actually one of the names that is falling the fastest, falling 184 places on the list of the most popular baby names.

In this category, boys names like Baylor, Bradley, Brady, Clayton, Hendrix, Preston, and Reid are out of style.

Reid’s name was also listed as one of the boys’ names that dropped the fastest, falling 143 spots.
