RAWALPINDI: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed on Thursday to have apprehended three terrorists and recovered a plan of Adiala Jail, a hand grenade, and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) from their hands.
Rawalpindi City authorities Officer (CPO) Khalid Hamdani stated that authorities recovered automatic weapons and ammo from the terrorists. Following this, police and other law enforcement agencies conducted a search operation near Adiala Jail, where Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan is also imprisoned.
According to the CPO, the terrorists were from Afghanistan, and an inquiry into them was ongoing.
Earlier on November 7, 2023, police discovered a suspicious package filled with an explosive device at Adiala Road in Gorakhpur, Rawalpindi, just one kilometer away from the Adiala jail before of the hearing of the cipher.
Law enforcement officials have already expressed concerns about former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s security, and all case hearings are held inside jails under strict protection.
He was transferred to Adiala from Attock on September 26 amid strict security, a day after the Islamabad High Court issued an order in this regard.
An 18-vehicle convoy, comprising 15 Islamabad police vehicles, two armoured vehicles, and an ambulance, escorted Khan on the motorway.
