The Balochistani government on Wednesday announced the arrest of two high-ranking Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commanders, Nasrullah alias “Maulvi Mansoor” and Idris alias “Irshad,” marking a significant victory in the fight against terrorism.
“We’ve taken down a significant terrorist organization. At a press conference in Quetta, Balochistan Home Minister Mir Zia Ullah Langau stated, “Terrorists Nasrullah […] and Idris have been arrested after a difficult operation.”
The arrests occurred one day after the Central Apex Committee of the nationwide Action Plan authorized Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, a nationwide counterterrorism initiative that has been revitalized and reenergized.
According to Langove, who was pointing out foreign factors, “India is behind terrorist attacks in the country [and] provides financial support to the militants.”
The minister urged the young people in question to heed the warnings of the adversary, highlighting the fact that they have been misled and are causing harm to their country.
According to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the federal government’s new endeavor will consist of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) rather than a newly organized armed operation and will target the removal of terrorists, criminal activity, and militant remnants.
The government’s action is in response to a notable uptick in terrorist attacks in recent months, as evidenced by the Centre for Research and Security Studies’ (CRSS) Q1 2024 Security Report, which showed that as many as 245 incidents resulted in at least 432 violence-related fatalities and 370 injuries among civilians, security personnel, and outlaws.
