A remote-controlled bomb targeting the journalist and president of the Khuzdar Press Club, Mohammad Siddiq Mengal, murdered him and two other people on Friday in Khuzdar, according to police, who spoke with Geo News.
The lethal blast also caused injuries to at least eight more people.
The number of those killed in the explosion increased to three when two of the injured people later passed away from their wounds, according to the station house officer.
The eight other people injured in the explosion are receiving treatment in other hospitals, according to authorities, while the killed bystanders were gravely hurt in the remote-controlled explosion and were taken to the hospital.
The police claim that the remote-controlled explosion happened on the National Highway’s Sultan Ibrahim Khan Road.
According to the station house officer, the journalist was struck by a blast while driving from his residence to the university. The blast was directed towards his vehicle.
Attackers have already targeted Mengal on previous occasions.
The journalist, who worked for a local daily, reportedly escaped an attempted murder a few months prior, according to the police.
Mir Ziaullah Langau, the home minister for Balochistan, vehemently denounced the Khuzdar explosion and ordered the pertinent authorities to submit a report.
