On Friday, Lahore saw rainfall of up to 315 millimeters, shattering a 30-year record and submerging the city in water.

Muhammad Ghufran, Managing Director of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), verified that the recent rainfall had shattered a 30-year-old record, with 315 mm falling in the Tajpura area. He said that Lakshmi Chowk in the city, which saw 170 mm of rain this year, had recorded 291 mm of rain last year.

He claimed that the WASA personnel was actively involved in the field and kept a close eye on the circumstances.

Lakshmi Chowk’s water has been evacuated, and other places are being cleared as well. Rainwater will soon be removed from the city, the WASA MD stated.

The neighborhoods of Qurtuba Chowk (152 mm), Gulshan-e-Ravi (151 mm), Mughalpura (145 mm), Samanabad (153 mm), Iqbal Town (152 mm), Gulberg Town (105 mm), Chowk Nakhuda (155 mm), Nishter Town (162 mm), Jail Road (69 mm), and Farrukhabad (140 mm) also saw rain.

It is important to note that the Met Office has predicted additional rain for the city over the following 24 hours, which might raise the amount of rainwater even more.

The citizens of the province experienced difficulties as a result of the severe rains that also fell on Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other locations.

Other than Lahore, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, the territories of Azad Jammu and Kashmir known as Nikyal and Barnala, Gujranwala, Jehlam, Mandibahauddin, Hafizabad, Sargodha, Pakpattan, and their adjacent areas too experienced heavy showers. A host of areas suffered from power outages as well.
