Juan Soto has agreed to a $765 million (£600 million) deal with the New York Mets of Major League Baseball that would last 15 years, making it the largest contract in sports history.
The Mets have not yet confirmed the transaction since the 26-year-old Dominican needs to finish a medical, but several American sources have revealed elements of it.
After enjoying the best season of his career with the New York Yankees, where he once again shown his exceptional ability to get on base, Soto was expected to be MLB’s most sought-after free agent this off-season.
Only Yankees teammate Aaron Judge had a higher OBP in 2024, and only three players hit more runs than him. He has the best career on-base percentage (0.421) among active players.
