Officials linked to the White House World Cup task force said Trump often makes late decisions about attending live events due to his schedule.

Trump previously took part in a trophy presentation at MetLife Stadium during a Club World Cup event. He handed over the trophy and stayed on stage briefly after the ceremony.
Some players appeared unsure about the situation at the time. Chelsea captain Reece James later said he expected Trump to leave the stage after the presentation.
