In recognition of their contributions to the cinema industry, King Charles awarded Christopher Nolan a knighthood and his producer wife Emma Thomas a damehood.
The British director later responded to the accolade by saying that meeting King Charles was “really wonderful” and that it was “very special” for him and his wife to accept the honors together.
Nolan added that he was pleased the king knew about his work.
He continued, “It was very nice that he knew our work and was aware of it, and, yes, he was hoping that I would take this as encouragement to do more of it.”
Nolan also disclosed that King Charles informed him that he had seen his movie Oppenheimer, the seven-Oscar-winning summer smash from 2023.
