On Thursday, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Mirpurkhas issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for six police personnel in connection with Dr. Shahnawaz Kunbhar’s staged encounter in September of this year.
The ATC ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to produce the suspected officers, including a former senior superintendent police (SSP) and deputy inspector general (DIG), by January 8, 2025, during today’s hearing.
In the meantime, five members of the medical board who dug up Shahnawaz’s body provided written statements to the FIA.
A member of the medical board, Professor Dr. Waheed, attested to the deceased doctor’s “torture” since “his five ribs were broken.”
The members of the inquiry committee claimed that Dr. Shahnawaz had been slain in the Sindhri police department after a fictitious confrontation with Mirpurkhas officers.
