Lily Gladstone, Leonardo DiCaprio’s co-star in Killers of the Flower Moon, received her first Academy Award nomination, which makes him delighted.
“Congratulations to my dear friend @LilyGladstone for making Oscars history, as the first Native American woman to be nominated for Best Actress in Killers of the Flower Moon,” the winner of the Oscar said to Instagram.
“The fourth Indigenous actress to ever earn a nomination in the category,” he said. “And to this powerful film’s nine other nominations – telling this story with all of you has been an honor.”
Notably, six-time Oscar nominee Leonardo was not nominated this year by the Academy committee.
The shocking rejection occurs after cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto of Killers of the Flower Moon revealed details about his readiness for the part, in which co-star Robert De Niro slapped him with a huge paddle for a sequence that wasn’t in the script.
“I don’t think that was in the first script,” stating “That was something that was added, and it’s shocking in the film,” according to him.
“I do remember doing them quite a few times and thinking, ‘Oh, that must hurt,'” he said in his continuation.
Observing, “His butt had considerable padding. But it was evident that De Niro was giving him a hard blow.” Leo is willing to try everything,” the speaker continued.
