After allegedly shooting and killing a local official close to Bangkok, a former Thai MP reportedly called into a YouTube livestream to tell the broadcaster, a political commentator, what he had done.
The astonished host, Anchalee Paireerak, was informed by former Nonthaburi MP Chalong Reawraeng that he had shot former police officer Thongchai Yenprasert outside Thongchai’s office on the capital’s northern suburbs.
Thongchai died in the hospital after being struck in the neck. He shot his driver in the hand and arm.
Former MP Allegedly Shoots Local Official
After being taken into custody, Chalong was permitted to give a news conference at a police station, where he tried to explain what had transpired while smoking a cigaret.
Police say they approved the uncommon request so Chalong could apologize to the victim’s family, but he spent more than six minutes going into detail about what he did behind the microphone.
He claimed to reporters that Thongchai was “angry” with him, but he did not elaborate. Additionally, he said that Thongchai was a “good friend” and that he had no intention of shooting him.
Chalong said that he expressed his want to speak with Thongchai. The two were embroiled in a personal argument, according to sources in the local media.

Chalong had already contacted political analyst Anchalee Paireerak to confess to the incident while she was livestreaming on YouTube.
