Following three delays in the ruling, an accountability court in Rawalpindi declared Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and his wife Bushra Bibi guilty in the £190 million case on Friday.
Judge Nasir Javed Rana of the accountability court sentenced the PTI founder to 14 years in prison and his wife to seven years in prison, in addition to hefty fines.
It is also significant to remember that the PTI founder will be fined Rs. 1 million, while his wife will be fined Rs. 0.5 million.
In addition, Bushra will serve three months and the former prime minister six months more if they don’t pay the punishment.
After the historic ruling was announced, campaigners and legal experts shared their opinions.
