This weekend, a video game relaunch, a high-profile survival thriller, and an adaptation of Jane Austen were among the many new movies that crowded North American theaters.
Even though Paramount’s “Street Fighter” won first place and, according to studio estimates, made $31 million from 3,575 screens on Sunday, the majority of the attention and cultural conversation was directed elsewhere: “You Can See Everything,” a nearly three-hour documentary on Elizabeth Holmes

‘You Can See Everything’ had thousands of sellouts
Buzz and box office don’t usually match, but according to A24, “You Can See Everything” generated an incredible $15 million from just 855 screens, with over 2,000 sellout showings over the weekend.
Additionally, it was the largest opening for a movie with fewer than 1,000 screens since “Borat” generated $26.5 million in 2006 and the largest opening for a non-music documentary in 20 years since “Fahrenheit 9/11” brought in about $24 million from 868 cinemas. Inflation is not taken into consideration in those figures.
“You Can See Everything” Scores Big Opening
Similar to other popular songs this year, such as the Gen-Z-driven “Backrooms” and “Obsession,” a primarily younger audience drove ticket sales for “You Can See Everything.” More than 70% of attendees during opening weekend were under 35.
Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, the film’s directors, worked in secret for three years. Before reporting to federal jail, Fielder spent more than a month with the discredited founder of Theranos and her family, which included two small children and partner Billy Evans. With 99% on Rotten Tomatoes and 99% on Metacritic, the reviews have been overwhelmingly good.
