Lili Reinhart gave her followers a depressing health update recently.
The former cast member of Riverdale posted a video of herself receiving red light therapy, a treatment recommended for alopecia on her TikTok account on Monday.
Lili captioned the video, saying, “Was just diagnosed with alopecia in the middle of a major depressive episode.”
The 27-year-old actress lip-synchronized to an audio clip of a man stating, “I’m pushed beyond limits of what a person should be pushed to endure,” while she sat in the light.
“My new best friend is red light therapy,” she captioned the photo, adding the hashtags “alopecia” and “mental health.”
Lili talked candidly about her struggle with depression and how the filming of Riverdale’s fifth season made her mental health worse in an old interview with Nylon.
Sometimes I feel like my depression has truly defeated me. I’ve been battling this struggle for eleven years, and it is really exhausting. It can be unbearable on some days, as today,” she said to the magazine in 2021.
Alopecia affects a number of well-known Hollywood actresses, including Tyra Banks, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Viola Davis.
