Since the Green Falcons’ supporters traveled across Qatar’s sole land border to attend the game, the atmosphere and support were always going to be biased in favor of the team.
Before the game began, they performed songs and danced outside the arena, and once it started, they took up most of the seats inside.
Even though the first half finished goalless, Saudi Arabia made it clear they intended to take the match to South Korea.
When play resumed, there was hardly time for supporters to return to their seats before Saudi Arabia’s Abdullah Radif scored off the bench. Even though the horde of Green Falcons supporters was boisterous before to the goal, Radif brought the house down as he slipped past the goalkeeper from South Korea.
For the following thirty minutes, Saudi Arabia kept up the pace both on and off the field, but eventually ran out of gas. The replacements from South Korea exploited this and increased the pressure on the Saudi goal.
