The Sindh provincial government has declared February 5 a public holiday in honor of Kashmir Day and to remember the suffering and sacrifices made by Kashmiris living in the Indian-occupied valley.

A few days after the federal government also declared a holiday, a notification was also released in this regard.

February 5 was declared a national holiday in Islamabad on Friday. The Cabinet Division also declared a one-minute silence to be observed on that day at 10 a.m.

Every year on February 5, Pakistan observes Kashmir Day as a way to show support and unity for the people living in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

India and Pakistan are still at odds over the Kashmir dispute, and Islamabad is always pushing for a global vote on the disputed region.

After Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi unilaterally decided to remove Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, which gave the IIOJK unique status, on August 5, 2019, the conflict caused uproar throughout the world.

Pakistan has further insisted that until Kashmir’s special status is reinstated, relations with its nuclear neighbor will not normalize.
