According to authorities, there were many bombings reported in various regions of Balochistan on Thursday, including the province capital Quetta, which resulted in at least one fatality and four injuries.

The explosion happened near Spinny Road in Quetta. According to Geo News, police have blocked off the area and are investigating the type of explosion.

The province’s Turbat and Naseerabad districts also saw explosions.

A hand grenade explosion at the Dera Allah Yar Bhatti gate area in Naseerabad injured at least three individuals, according to police, and a grenade burst in Turbat’s main market injured one person.

Rescue crews and a bomb disposal squad have arrived at the scene of a blast in Quetta where at least one person has died, according to the police.

Eight to ten kilograms of explosives were utilized in the blast in the provincial capital, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Quetta Tariq Jawad, who spoke with the media.

He added that the victim of the blast was a bystander and that the deceased had not yet been recognized based on preliminary investigation.

The SSP added that there was nothing election-related going on close to the explosion site.

The most recent occurrences coincide with the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) scheduled meeting for today (Thursday) to address the state of law and order in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

A spokeswoman for the ECP said in a statement released today (Thursday) that the chief secretary and the head of the Balochistan police have been asked to provide a report on the numerous explosions that have occurred in the province as soon as possible.

The situation worsened on Wednesday as three terrorist attacks in a row shook several cities in Balochistan and KP, injuring numerous people. This bloodshed disrupted electioneering efforts.

Rehan Zeb Khan, an independent candidate for NA-8 and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf member, was shot and killed one day earlier while conducting a canvass in the Bajaur area of KP.

Four people were killed on Tuesday when a bomb went off at the PTI’s election rally in Sibbi.

The spike in violence raised concerns about the nation’s security environment before the general elections, which are set to take place on February 8.
