PESHAWAR: In view of the approaching general elections, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administration decided on Thursday to keep all educational institutions closed throughout the province from February 6 to 9.

All public and private schools, colleges, and institutions in the province would be closed during the specified time, according to a notification issued in this respect.

According to the education department, polling places have been set up inside of school buildings for the elections scheduled for February 8; teachers and other staff members will be occupied with election-related tasks.

Pakistan, which has over 128 million voters, will have important elections this time around because of the political and economic unrest in the nation.

In order to maintain peace and order throughout the nation, increased security and the deployment of law enforcement personnel are planned for the February 8 election.

Ahead of the general elections on February 6, the governments of Sindh and Punjab also made the decision to keep the schools closed.

Ahead of the country’s approaching general elections, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training also said that educational facilities in the federal capital will be closed from February 6 to 9.

The ministry said in a statement that “it has been decided to declare public holidays from February 8th, 2024 in view of the upcoming general elections in Pakistan.”
