“Real Pakistani youth stand with PML-N; not mummy-daddy type,” Nawaz makes fun of Imran

In Faisalabad electioneering, PM hopeful Nawaz promises to cut down inflation and unemployment

Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has taken a new stab at the beleaguered Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) by stating that, in addition to the “mummy-daddy ones,” the “real youth” of the nation support his party.

Political rivals of PTI usually accuse the party of drawing “privileged youth” or “wannabes” who are uncommitted or lack traditional values. “Mummy-daddy” is one of the words they use to suggest that party members are not sincere.

Some claim that young people favor other people. But no, Muslim League Noon is for young people, not mommy-and-papa kids. The genuine youth of Pakistan. That’s the reason Nawaz Sharif adores you, the former prime minister stated at a Friday gathering in Faisalabad.

Nawaz is considering a fourth term as prime minister since he has been granted relief by the courts in a number of instances and is no longer barred from office by a significant ruling by the Supreme Court.

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), his party’s previous collaborator, is a formidable opponent as the PTI appears to be out of the election fight due to the imprisonment of its founder Imran Khan, the absence or imprisonment of its top leadership, and the removal of its emblem.

Candidates from the PTI, which ruled the nation from 2018 to 2022 until being overthrown, will run in the polls on February 8 using several electoral symbols, which will decrease their chances of winning because those symbols aid in party identification.

During the same speech, Nawaz pledged to lower electricity prices and reduce inflation, which is currently at an all-time high in Pakistan with no signs of abating.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) anticipates that inflation will stay within a certain level despite a 1.8% monthly increase to 28.34%.

“God willing, we will bring back the time when vegetables, petrol, and bread were cheaper than they are today,” declared Nawaz, who was overthrown before his five-year term was out by either an early court decision or a military coup.

The leader of the PML-N said that fewer people would be jobless if he had not been removed from office in 2017.

In a jab at PTI founder Khan, he remarked, “I don’t make false promises, I’m not the person who promised 5 million homes and didn’t deliver.”

The PTI founder was also chastised by PML-N Senior Vice-President Maryam Nawaz, who remarked, “Muslim League Noon does not call anyone a thief, we believe in serving the people.”

Maryam, who will be running for office for the first time after having her sentence overturned last year, claimed that “nobody can beat PML-N in service of people.”
