KARACHI: On February 8, the day of the election, meteorologists have forecast clear, dry weather for much of the nation.

The experts stated that while a significant rainstorm on election day was unlikely, there was a probability of light rain on election eve, February 7, in the western regions of Sindh and Balochistan.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz stated during an appearance on the Geo News program Geo Pakistan that the rain system would clear out in less than a day following mild to moderate rains in several areas of Punjab and Balochistan. He predicted that most of the country would get dry weather on election day.

While discussing the outlook, he also said how Karachi was hit with severe downpours for the second day in a row on Sunday, leaving several areas of the port city remained flooded.

North Karachi, the Superhighway, the Bufferzone, Nagan Chowrangi, Saadi Town, North Naziabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, New MA Jinnah Road, Nazimabad, I.I. Chundrigar Road, Saddar, Shah Faisal Scheme 33, and other places were among those that had heavy to moderate rains on the second day.

Nimbus clouds continued to linger in the city’s northern and central regions, the Met Office reported, resulting in sporadic downpours.

The meteorological authority had stated, “The series of rains may continue intermittently till evening,” adding that this was the city’s first experience with such rainfall in February for forty years. The intense rain caused power outages that lasted for hours in several places. However, in the port city, homes and hospitals were affected by rains combined with sewage overflowing from blocked lines.
