Election-related campaigning and events have ramped up in anticipation of polling day. The difficult task of tallying the votes and consolidating them starts once the polls are cast.

Everyone taking part in the vote this year needs to be aware of a few key forms pertaining to the compilation of results. The forms in question are 45, 46, 47, 48, and 49.

These forms have to do with the Pakistani Election Commission’s Result Compilation System.

Let’s examine the meaning and intent of these forms.

Form 45
The Presiding Officer must sign Form 45, which is called the Presiding Officer’s Results of the Count, and submit it with his thumb impression.

The number of votes cast in a polling place is recorded on this form. The number of votes a candidate received from that polling place is also mentioned separately. This form’s goal is to stop any changes made during the procedure, guaranteeing that the outcomes are transparent. This can also be admitted in court.

Form 46
The form with the vote paper count is Form 46. It contains the total number of ballots that a polling place receives, the total number of ballots that are removed from the ballot box, the total number of ballots that are tendered, disputed, spoiled, stray, and cancelled at a polling place.

Form 47

Another crucial form pertaining to polling places is Form 47. The Returning Officer records the total number of votes cast in a constituency using this form. This creates a preliminary combined result for the constituency without mail-in ballots. A postal ballot is one that has been filled out by a registered voter and sent via postal mail to the voting location by the eligible voter.

Form 48
The Consolidated Statement of Results of the Count, found on Form 48, lists all of the votes cast for each candidate at each polling place in a constituency. There is a space on this form for the quantity of postal ballots.

Form 49

The official and final Consolidated Result Form is this one. Along with the candidates’ names and party affiliations, it also lists the total number of votes each candidate received in the constituency. It is created at the constituency level and lists all of the votes that each contender has received overall. This form is published in the Pakistani Gazette.

Every form, from the count result to the final aggregated result, is crucial to maintaining accuracy and openness throughout the election process.

You can have a better grasp of the ECP’s result compilation process by becoming familiar with these forms.
