After her husband Derek Draper’s funeral, Kate Garraway says her “emotions are at 110%” and thanks everyone for the “outpouring of love,” which includes “extraordinary” condolence notes from the Beckhams, the King, Princess of Wales, and Prince William.
The 56-year-old TV personality talked about her “outpouring of love for everyone that has supported me” during an appearance on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, her first interview since burying her husband three days ago.
It’s simply incredible. My emotions seem to be at a 110% level,” she remarked.
She revealed to her co-presenters Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid that she had been informed a month before Draper passed away that he only had 24 hours to live.
Draper, a 56-year-old psychotherapist and former political consultant, passed away last month.
After contracting the virus in March 2020 and spending 13 months in the hospital, he was reported to be among the COVID-19 patients in the UK with the longest duration of illness.
An emotional Garraway spoke on Monday via videolink from her home, highlighting the incredible bravery her daughter Darcey displayed in the final hours before Draper passed away.
Several politicians and celebrities attended her father’s burial on Friday, and the adolescent assisted in carrying his casket.
Garraway stated that the two kids had alone time with their father, saying, “I thought that was incredibly brave that Darcy said, ‘If you can’t do this, we will be okay.'”
She remarked, “I thought it was a beautiful thing,” about her daughter’s participation in the funeral as a pallbearer.
