On Sunday, security forces killed a “high-value target” of Daesh, Surat Gul aka Saif Ullah, in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Khyber province.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), when a high-profile terrorist was suspected to be present, security forces reacted quickly and conducted a raid in the tribal district.

During the operation, security troops engaged in a heavy firefight, killing the ‘ring boss’ of the proscribed terrorist organization.

“Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the killed terrorist commander, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities including target killing of innocent civilians as well as extortion and was highly wanted by the law enforcement agencies.”

“A sanitation operation is being carried out to eradicate any more terrorists discovered in the vicinity. Locals in the neighborhood praised the operation and pledged their complete support to eliminate the threat of terrorism,” the military’s media wing said.

Earlier this month, security forces killed two militants, including a ring leader, in KP’s North Waziristan district on the night of February 5-6.

According to a military statement, the ring leader Ayubullah, also known as Mansoor, and another were killed down when the troops conducted an intelligence-based operation based on reports of terrorist activity.

Since the Taliban reclaimed power in Afghanistan in 2021, Pakistan has seen an increase in attacks in the tribal territories bordering the country.

Islamabad maintains that Kabul is housing allied terrorists like as the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), allowing them to strike with impunity on its soil.

According to figures released by the Department of Interior and Tribal Affairs KP, the areas most hit by terrorism are Peshawar, Khyber, Bajaur, and Tank, with Dera Ismail Khan, North Waziristan, and South Waziristan also included.

According to documents from the Home and Tribal areas, 1,050 incidences of terrorism occurred in KP last year, with 419 events in the arranged districts and 631 incidents in the merging districts.
