The UAE government gave a 27-acre (11-hectare) tract of land on which the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi is situated.

2018 saw India declare its construction during Mr. Modi’s visit to the United Arab Emirates.

Prior to the general elections that are scheduled for two months from now, analysts predict that the temple will strengthen the government’s Hindu nationalist agenda.

Weeks have passed since Mr. Modi dedicated a stately temple dedicated to the Hindu deity Ram in the city of Ayodhya in northern India. It takes the place of a 16th-century mosque that Hindu fanatics destroyed in 1992, igniting riots that claimed the lives of about 2,000 people.

The BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, which describes itself as a “spiritual, volunteer-driven fellowship” with the goal of “fostering Hindu values of faith, service, and global harmony,” is in charge of the Abu Dhabi temple.

The organization’s headquarters are in Gujarat, the home state of Mr. Modi, and it boasts a 200-year history.

Although there have long been temples in the United Arab Emirates, this is apparently the first to be constructed using conventional methods.

The temple was constructed in Dubai using white Italian marble and pink sandstone from the Indian state of Rajasthan. It was carved in India.
