In unpleasant news for Lahore residents, the Transport and Mass Transit Department has approved a fare increase for the Orange Line, Speedo, and Multan Metro bus services.

Commuters using the Orange Line Train will see a Rs5 increase in both the minimum and maximum tariffs, effective immediately. The minimum fare has been hiked from Rs20 to Rs25, while the maximum fare is now Rs45, up from Rs40.

Similarly, passengers using the Speedo bus service would experience a Rs5 hike in prices. This unexpected fare adjustment is expected to have an impact on the daily travel costs of many Lahore residents.

Additionally, customers of the Multan Metro will face the brunt of the fee hike, with the minimum fare increasing from Rs20 to Rs25. This increase in transportation expenditures adds to commuters’ financial burdens, especially those who rely on public transportation for their daily journey.

Citizens are concerned about the decision to adopt fare increases, especially in light of the current difficult economic situation. With the cost of living rising, increased transportation costs would put additional strain on Lahore residents’ and families’ budgets.

Meanwhile, variations in global oil prices may cause a rise in fuel and diesel prices around midnight.

Following a rise of Rs13.55 per liter in petrol prices on February 1, authorities are now considering an increase in the price of high-speed diesel.

The government has agreed to hike the price of high-speed diesel by Rs 8 per liter from February 16. Additionally, petrol prices may increase by 80 paise per litre.
