LAHORE: Maryam Nawaz, Senior Vice President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), was briefed on uplift projects in Punjab after being nominated by her party as the province’s chief minister, The News reported on Friday.

Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman briefed the PML-N stalwart in a second meeting after her nomination for the top provincial position.

According to sources, the provincial chief secretary visited Jatti Umrah on Thursday to inform Maryam and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif about the current scenario in Punjab.

During the meeting, Zaman informed attendees on current development projects as well as the province’s law and order condition.

The chief secretary and Health Secretary Ali Jan both attended the meeting.

Party sources claimed that the Punjab Inspector General met with the PML-N leader in Jatti Umrah and briefed her about the province’s law and order situation.

PML-N has nominated the Sharif family scion for the job of Punjab chief minister following her victory in the recent general elections on February 8.

She won the general elections for a National Assembly and provincial assembly seat in Lahore.

The party’s mainstay was elected by voters on PP-159 and NA-119.

Maryam stated earlier this week that she is not interested in becoming prime minister or chief minister if she wins the country’s next general elections.

“My focus is not on the slot of prime minister or chief minister,” she stated.
