Images from the Solovetsky Stone, a memorial to political repression that has grown to be a significant location for memorials for the 47-year-old Navalny, showed a growing mound of flowers left for the veteran.
The US embassy in Moscow posted on social media, “Today at the Solovetsky Stone we mourn the death of Alexei Navalny and other victims of political repression in Russia.”
“We offer our sincere condolences to the family, associates, and friends of Alexei Navalny. His fortitude serves as an encouraging model. We pay tribute to his memories,” the embassy posted.
