Police also stated in the article that “this incident does not appear to be a murder-suicide, and both deaths are being investigated as homicides.”

“We are continuing to develop and follow investigative leads and will provide additional information when it becomes available,” a police spokesperson said.

According to a university official, the campus lockdown established during the incident has been removed; nevertheless, classes will be closed for the remainder of the day.

In a news conference, University Chancellor Jennifer Sobanet expressed her grief, saying, “We are in shock as we process the tragic loss of two lives.” “My heart breaks for the victims of today’s senseless violence.”

Police said in a statement: “While the coroner will determine the official verdict of the cause and manner of death,

The deaths are being investigated as homicides. We are still in the early phases of figuring out what happened. We are working hard and looking into every possibilities.”

Authorities did not reveal the victims’ identities.

“I am closely monitoring the situation at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs campus and have spoken with our Department of Public Safety and CU President Todd Saliman to offer state support where needed,” the governor of Colorado, Jared Polis, said in a statement
