Ali Amin Gandapur, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief minister nominee for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, cautioned on Monday that people who are more devoted to the king must reform themselves or face punishment.
Gandapur’s comments came in the midst of a nationwide crackdown on his party, with numerous PTI workers and sympathizers seized by law enforcement officials.
Meanwhile, the lawmaker is preparing to take over the provincial administration in KP.
“Fake FIRs were lodged against us all over the country,” the lawmaker told media in Peshawar, implying that the police and bureaucracy had an active role in the crackdown on his party.
The PTI leader, who won PK-113 and NA-44 from his birthplace Dera Ismail Khan in the recently held general elections, stated that those involved in lawlessness must be punished if traditions are to be changed.
Gandapur stated that the PTI’s legal staff and committee are working on forming a government alliance. He further stated that the PTI will not necessarily work with a major party.
He did, however, reiterate that the party would respect any decision made by its founder, Imran Khan.
On forming a government in KP, Gandapur stated that the names of cabinet ministers have been shortlisted, but Khan would make the final decision.
“Affiliation with a political party will only be considered in accordance with election rules,” he stated, ignoring the party’s collaboration with PTI-Parliamentarians who departed from the party during its difficult times.
