Concern over threats to Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi is expressed by the PTI Core Committee.

Speaking during the session of the Senate, she said: “The Peoples Party has always had a principled stance against the death penalty, whether public or private.”

“While the PPP staunchly condemns rape as a heinous and grave crime, calling for the death penalty or public executions, as seen in various countries, have not proven to be effective in deterring sexual crimes. We must prioritise enhancing prosecutions and investigations rather than resorting to barbarism and violence within society.”
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had a critical meeting of its core committee to address urgent concerns over the safety of its founding chairman, Imran Khan, and his wife, Bushra Bibi, among other issues.

At a recent core committee meeting, the party expressed “deep concern” about purported threats to Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s safety during their possible imprisonment. They requested that detained leaders and activists’ fundamental rights be restored, as well as legal and compassionate treatment in accordance with Pakistani law.

The gathering concentrated on the former first lady’s plight, fiercely denouncing her confinement in Bani Gala and accusations of being provided “substandard, deadly, and poisonous food.” The PTI maintained its request for her relocation to a regular correctional institution.

To raise tensions, the party emphasized “a fresh series of forced disappearances” targeting its candidates for national and provincial assembly seats, notably Brigadier (R) Aslam Ghuman and Ahmar Rashid Bhatti.

The PTI accused the authorities of seeking to coerce these members into abandoning the party. They urged the immediate dismissal of Sindh’s Chief Secretaries and IGs, as well as rigorous accountability for the purported disappearances.

The committee also endorsed the recent political coalition formed by the PTI, Majlis-e-Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen, and Sunni Ittehad Council. They guaranteed full support for the PTI Balochistan in all subsequent elections and sought the early publication of poll results based on Form 45, a document critical for verifying voting data.

Finally, the meeting called for a judicial investigation led by the Commission to investigate the recent confession of the Commissioner Rawalpindi, where he leveled serious allegations against the Chief Election Commissioner and the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
