LAHORE: Days after former Pakistan team director Mohammad Hafeez left the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the player has revealed certain facts about his interactions with star cricketers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan during the T20 International series against New Zealand.
In an interview, Hafeez discussed his insistence on the players acknowledging their particular responsibilities in the squad in order to stress the importance of their contributions to Pakistan’s overall success.
The former captain claimed that he spent the first two months of his short stint persuading Babar about the collective nature of cricket as a game, emphasizing how each player’s contribution is critical to the team’s success.
“You are a great player, you are a wonderful player, and you are playing great cricket; however, you have to develop Pakistan team,” Hafeez stated in a conversation with Babar.
The senior cricketer encouraged Babar and Rizwan to embrace positional adjustments for the team’s sake. Hafeez particularly proposed that Babar go from his usual opening role to batting at number three, where he has excelled in One-Day Internationals.
