Last month, Henry Staunton, the former chair, was fired by business secretary Kemi Badenoch due to allegations of bullying.
According to Mr. Staunton, the Post Office CEO “fell out” with the company’s HR head and claimed that an 80-page dossier about Mr. Read only mentioned his own actions once.
The former chairperson said that he “strenuously denied” the notion that he had made any politically incorrect remarks, citing one phrase in the report to support his allegation.
“This was a significant inquiry about Nick. He informed the MPs, “And I didn’t realize you weren’t aware of that.”
Mr. Staunton responded, “What there is, actually, is Mr. Read fell out with his HR director and she produced a’speak up’ document which was 80 pages thick,” when asked if he was notified that his behavior was under investigation in November of last year.
