Elon Musk has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman, among others, alleging breach of contractual commitments dating back to the ChatGPT maker’s inception in 2015. The lawsuit, filed in San Francisco on Thursday, says that OpenAI’s concentration on profit breaches the basic agreement struck with Musk when the business was founded.
According to the lawsuit, Altman and OpenAI’s co-founder, Greg Brockman, approached Musk about establishing an open-source, non-profit organization dedicated to creating artificial intelligence technologies for the benefit of humanity. Musk’s lawyers contend that OpenAI’s present pursuit of revenues violates the underlying agreement.
