KARACHI: As the presidential election approaches on March 9, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has sought support from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) as part of its efforts to rally political parties, sources told Geo News on Monday.
Asif Ali Zardari, the PPP’s Co-chairman, is running for president against Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the chief of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), who has the support of Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) legislators backed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) approved the presidential nominees’ nomination papers earlier today.
The voting for the next president will take place on March 9 at the National Assembly, and all the provincial assemblies from 10am to 4pm.
