The government is still strict about smuggling.

Crackdown extends beyond individual cities, with interceptions reported from Multan and Karachi

Authorities continue to tackle smuggling activities around the country. To strengthen the country’s economic stability and combat illicit commerce, the government has imposed severe national policies.

A number of smuggler-targeting operations have been undertaken since September 2023, following government directions. Recent data from February 18th to February 25th show a major interception of illegal items, including Iranian oil, fertilizers, cigarettes, textiles, and sugar.

In a national operation, authorities seized a large haul, including 7.85 metric tons of fertilizer, 1.14 metric tons of sugar, 598 cigarette packs, 174 fabric rolls, and 0.061 million liters of Iranian oil.

The campaign extends beyond specific cities, with interceptions recorded in Multan and Karachi.

Authorities seized 150 cigarette stocks and 28 fabric rolls from Multan, while 248 cigarette stocks and 146 fabric rolls were confiscated in Karachi.

Additional seizures were reported from Peshawar and Quetta, with 0.23 metric tons of sugar taken in Peshawar and 7.85 metric tons of fertilizer, 0.91 metric tons of sugar, and 200 cigarette stocks confiscated in Quetta.

Since September 1st, the ongoing crackdown has yielded a significant seizure of contraband, including 9523.175 metric tons of sugar, 247.02 metric tons of wheat flour, 3015.812 metric tons of fertilizers, 222199 cigarette stocks, 239778 fabric rolls, and 3.032 million liters of Iranian oil.
