Due to his unsportsmanlike behavior in his semi-final match against Alexander Bublik, the Russian was defaulted.
After a contentious call in the third set, Rublev yelled at a line judge.
Rublev had taken a Russian swearing-in at the line judge, an official who spoke the language informed news supervisor Roland Herfel.
“The appeals committee concluded that, beyond forfeiting the match, customary penalties associated with a default – namely loss of rankings points and prize money for the entire tournament – would be disproportionate in this case,” the news stated.
Following the appeal, Rublev’s $36,400 (£28,700) penalties for the code infraction is still in effect.
